[Taryon nods. Work is work, and in an amusement park, there is no requirement to go into detail. This is a place for fun only.]
That sounds exhausting. It's a miracle you look as good as you do without any way to relief all that stress. [He elbows Tez lightly before stepping forth on the line. The next group of riders climb into the carts, and an attendant checks their seats. There's a brief list of rules that are read out of a prompt in the attendant's optic implant, about turning off any video apps and keeping their limbs closer to their bodies.]
Maybe we should make this a regular thing. Between us. [Added quickly:] Or not between us, you know how to get here! Hah. [He sucks in a breath between his teeth and turns to face the ride as it starts its way around the track. That was a risky thing to offer, and kind of stupid now that he's finally said it, but why not try everything on a first date?]
[ He smirks at being elbowed, but the smile turns curious as Taryon mentions this becoming a regular outing. His eyebrows raise in surprise, and he chuckles when there’s the quick, nervous addition tacked onto the end of it.
…It’s a funny, strange thing to experience, though that’s a thought he keeps to himself, lest it be misunderstood. He’d expected quite an experience when Daybit had summoned him and he’d confined himself to a human form, but he never would have guessed how far reaching that decision would be. World-saving, world-hopping, that’s kind of what he expected. Standing here, having a guy sweetly ask him something like that, well.
It's human. Mortal, to be technical about it. And it’s simply not an experience gods have. ]
…Yeah, sure. Would be fun.
[ It’s easy, casual acceptance, maybe as to be expected from his general demeanor. But in truth, there’s a bit more behind his cool smile. This is a careful balancing act for him, since gods were simply beholden to different kinds of rules. He still feels it's a bit too early to get into any of that though, even obliquely, so he just grins playfully. ]
'Course, unless I find out this is not for me. Then we'll just have to find some other kinda fun risk-taking.
[Ah. That's a possibility: Tezcatlipoca might not like this, risking the possibility that he will leave this park in a worse state than when he entered it.] There are other rollercoasters we can try out, if you don't like this one. The nice thing about these parks is they offer everything within walking distance. It's a marketplace of fun. [He nods to himself going through a list of rides: less dangerous roller coasters, the ferris wheel, carousel...if that fails, at least they have the games.]
But this is pretty great, just saying. [The current group of riders beging their perilous journey. This is the last chance for Tez to see what's waiting for them, and Taryon hopes it's thrilling enough for his tastes. A god of combat surely finds enough excitement at work.
But why is he so worried about what Tez things? Hundreds of locals enjoy this nearby refurbished park. He and Elan should be proud enough with that. It may not be Taryon's magnum opus, so it's not like everything will fall apart if one person doesn't have fun.
Yet...this is his first real date with an Outsider. The pool is limited. First impressions mean a lot.]
How about a selfie, for posterity's sake? Better we take it now while our hair looks perfect. [There's a few more minutes to kill before they can even think about where they will sit.]
[ As they inch closer, Tezcatlipoca indeed does nosily try and take a better look, though a fair portion of it comes from a basic fascination rather than anticipation for the thrill. When it comes to anything under the umbrella of “technology”, he’s just interested, since all of those innovations were well after he could descend to Earth casually. He had an easier time of it than most of his brethren as a trickster god, but still… Once the Empire fell, it was essentially impossible.
So, his attention is on the tracks, the car, all of the little pieces that make it go more then the people excitedly getting in. He can see things like the safety bars, but still, he does wonder just how it’s safe, a little. Not that it’s off-putting, though. ]
Hey, I’m down to try anything once. Won’t know if I like it ‘til I try it, right?
[ He looks back to Taryon with a charming grin, and though it falters a little at the question, it’s just an earnest surprise. It’s easy to return, and he nods. ]
Yeah, let’s do it. Didn’t even think about the hair… [ Another laugh, and he scoots closer so he’d be in the frame for a photo. ] Good thing I decided to go with wearing my hair up today, otherwise it’d just end up a damn mess.
[The detailed mechanisms were given the greatest amount of attention. Lives were on the line, but thankfully, physics and civil engineering do not change across worlds and through time. Each time the cars roll over the track and the bars hold, another point of pride is added to Tary's total tally. He's learned so much while studying contemporary science. Seeing his success right before him is a perfect way to use his abilities for the greater good.
The people are happy, and Tezcatlipoca is happy. He hopes. A lot of effort has been put into this: all from a year's study.]
Oh, perfect. You have the right face shape for tying back your hair. [He runs his fingers through his own locks - they have volume and bounce and therefore look their best when left loose and flying in the wind.] Me, I just look good no matter how you part it. Alright. [He takes his wireless camera in his hand and holds it at arm's length. The ocular connection gives him a visual of the picture with himself, the other man, and the ride behind them. Taryon angle his head towards Tezcatlipoca and closes the distance between them until they're resting against each other to fit inside the frame.
He holds up a peace sign.] Count of three. One...two...
[ Tezcatlipoca tosses him a sly little glance at the compliment, since he appreciates it. He may be casual about it, but… He’s still a god of beauty and he has his vanity. But that’s secondary, since there’s a photo happening. This process is a little unfamiliar to him, but he at least has the basics of it down enough that he has no problem with squeezing in. Not that this means that he knows what to do, exactly, so rather than a peace sign, he just gives a warm, pleasant grin. It’s at least a nice one!
And once it’s taken, he relaxes from the pose with a laugh as they step forward in line. Once this ride finishes, they should be up next. ]
Ha, that’s something extra special, now that I think about it.
[ And, being nosy, he reaches out to encourage Taryon to bring the camera closer so he can take a look at it. ]
Far as I know, that’s the first image of me captured on film. Well, film so to speak. Guess these don’t use that. Totally missed that era.
